How to Search Niagara County Criminal Court Records
There are several ways to look up criminal court records in Niagara County. Your choice depends on what you need and how fast you need it.
The OCA Criminal History Record Search is the statewide option. It costs $95. You provide a name and date of birth. Results cover County Court, Supreme Court, and city court data from all 62 New York counties, including Niagara. Results come by email the next business day. Sealed records are excluded from results. A Certificate of Disposition proves how a criminal case ended. The fee is $10. You get it from the court that handled the case. Record Sealing in Niagara County
New York uses record sealing, not expungement. CPL 160.50 requires automatic sealing when a case ends in the defendant's favor. Dismissals, acquittals, and completed adjournments in contemplation of dismissal all get sealed. Once sealed, the records are not available to the public.
CPL 160.55 covers non-criminal findings like violations. CPL 160.58 allows sealing of certain drug convictions after the defendant finishes a treatment program. CPL 160.59 lets people petition to seal up to two older convictions, but only one can be a felony. The Niagara County DA reviews all sealing petitions. A judge makes the final call.
